Skate Park Too Expensive
To the editor:
After looking at all the arguments about the multi million dollar skate park in Reston, I'm forced to ask "What? Are you crazy?"
Once again we see why taxes spiral out of control and the price of government soars. You get the design specialists that have no touch of reality in their life designing something that rivals an NFL team or the Taj Mahal.
It reminds me of when Herndon decided to build the new town hall. The designers came out with something like the Fairfax County government complex. They then opted for a much more simplistic design that functions fine.
Here in New Hampshire most of the towns have their skate parks with the concrete ramps and bowls. Most of these parks only cost a few grand and in fact much of it was donated material so it cut the costs.
