Center Needs Community Room |
|
To the editor:
|
| Last week's article ("Council to Buy Hands, Inc., Land for
$1.5M," The Observer, Nov. 29) quotes my remarks about a possible
community banquet-meeting room as part of the Herndon Cultural
Arts Center Project. Personally I feel this room is critical
to the success of the Center and I will continue to press
to keep it part of the project. |
| The community banquet-meeting room, as currently envisioned,
would seat 150-250 people and be designed to provide event
and banquet space below the level currently provided by the
area hotels. This is a need that is presently unmet in the
Herndon Area and could provide a critical source of income
to help operate the center. |
| Hopefully we will seek the input of local hotel managers,
many of whom have been very supportive of the idea, and local
catering companies. This should allow the community banquet-meeting
room to not directly compete with local hotels and yet provide
good support facilities to allow caterers to operate efficiently
when serving meals, etc. |
| Most importantly, the community banquet-meeting room would
attract many users to the Herndon Cultural Arts Center that
may not otherwise visit. |
| The banquet-meeting room would help make the center a true
community facility. |
